Service 01 · Financial Investigation & Tracing
When the picture is unclear and accuracy matters, a careful, documented investigation gives you something solid to work with — and to rely on.
← Back to homeWhat this engagement delivers
Financial investigations often begin with a sense that something does not add up — incomplete explanations, gaps in records, or figures that cannot easily be reconciled. The question is not just what happened, but whether there is enough evidence to say so clearly and credibly.
That is what this service is designed to provide. At the end of the engagement, you will have a methodical, well-documented account of what the records show — one that you, your legal advisors, or a court can read with confidence.
A traceable chain from source to conclusion
Every finding is tied back to specific documents, so you can follow the reasoning step by step.
Findings framed in plain language
Technical analysis is translated into clear, readable explanations that can be used confidently across contexts.
Handled with care for the people involved
Investigations touch on sensitive situations. We approach every engagement with appropriate discretion and professionalism.
The situation that brings people here
Sometimes the concern arrives gradually — recurring discrepancies, explanations that shift slightly each time, patterns that seem minor in isolation but accumulate into something harder to ignore. Other times there is a specific event: an audit observation, a whistleblower, a transaction that simply does not fit.
In either case, the difficulty is rarely just technical. There is often uncertainty about what can actually be established from the available records. There is the question of what the findings will mean — for an organisation, for a legal process, for the people involved. And there is sometimes a reluctance to begin a process whose outcome is not yet known.
These are reasonable concerns. A well-structured financial investigation does not have to be disruptive or drawn out. What it does is replace speculation with a documented account that you can use — or, if the records do not support a clear conclusion, it tells you that honestly too.
Our approach
Financial investigation is a careful discipline. It begins with what the records actually contain, and works outward from there — tracing transactions, reconciling accounts, and building a picture that is grounded in evidence rather than assumption.
We follow funds across accounts, entities, and time periods — mapping where money came from and where it went, even when the trail is complicated or has been obscured.
Bank statements, accounting ledgers, contracts, and correspondence are reviewed systematically, with attention to what is present, what is absent, and what the gaps might indicate.
We examine data for anomalies, unusual timing, repeated structures, or behavioural patterns that warrant closer attention — alongside the straightforward reconciliation work.
The output is a clear, structured report with supporting schedules — written to be used in practice, whether internally, in negotiations, or in legal proceedings.
Working together
Forensic investigations can feel uncertain at the outset. Our aim is to make the process as clear and manageable as possible — so you understand what is happening, and are not left wondering.
Stage one
We begin by listening — to what you know, what you suspect, and what you need the investigation to establish. This helps us confirm whether this service is the right fit and what a proportionate scope looks like.
Stage two
Once the scope is agreed and documentation is in hand, we work through the material carefully. You will hear from us when there is something meaningful to discuss — not with unnecessary interruptions, but never in silence.
Stage three
We walk you through the report when it is ready, answer questions, and remain available if further context is needed — whether for internal decisions or in support of external proceedings.
Investment
Financial investigations vary considerably in scale. A contained matter with clear documentation may be resolved efficiently; a more complex situation involving multiple entities, longer time periods, or incomplete records naturally requires more work. We do not apply a standard rate card regardless of what the engagement actually involves.
Before any work begins, we discuss the situation, agree on the scope, and provide a clear engagement letter setting out what is included and what the fee will be. There are no surprises.

How it works in practice
Financial investigations take the time they require — but they do not need to be indefinite. We manage each engagement with a realistic timeline and clear communication at each stage.
Week 1
We discuss the situation, identify the documents needed, and issue the engagement letter. You know exactly what is being undertaken.
Weeks 2–4
The core investigative work — reviewing records, tracing transactions, identifying patterns, and building the evidential picture.
Week 5–6
Findings are set out clearly, with supporting schedules cross-referenced to the source documents. The draft is reviewed for accuracy before delivery.
Ongoing
We walk through the report with you and remain available for questions as the matter progresses — in discussions, negotiations, or proceedings.
Timelines vary depending on the volume and complexity of material. The indicative schedule above reflects a typical contained engagement. We discuss realistic expectations at scoping.
Our commitment
Your matter is handled with the same discretion we would want applied to our own affairs. Nothing leaves the engagement without your knowledge.
We will not begin work — and you will not incur any fee — until you have reviewed and accepted the engagement letter with a clear scope and fee agreed in writing.
An initial consultation is available at no cost. If the situation does not call for a formal investigation — or if Fiscara is not the right fit — we will say so directly.
Questions can arise at any point. We remain accessible and responsive for the duration of the engagement and for a reasonable period after delivery of findings.
How to proceed
There is no commitment involved in reaching out. A short description of your situation is enough to start a conversation — and from there, we can tell you whether this service is what you need.
01
Use the contact form to describe the situation in a few sentences. There is no template to follow and no information you are obliged to share at this stage.
02
Someone from Fiscara will be in touch to ask any clarifying questions and suggest a brief call. All initial communications are treated with full confidentiality.
03
If the engagement goes ahead, we issue a clear written scope and fee before any work starts. You decide when — and whether — to proceed.
Get in touch
If there is a financial matter that needs closer attention, we are glad to hear about it. No pressure and no obligation — just a straightforward discussion about what you are dealing with and whether Fiscara can help.
